Positive Stories from the PTP Community

At PTP, everything we do is built around people, place, and progression. From first dips in the lake to coastal swim adventures, from youth development to strategic partnerships across London and Kent, our work centres on access, confidence, and meaningful long-term impact.

Life-Changing Swim Journeys

Our swim trips to North and South Wales have become a defining part of the PTP experience. Under Pia’s leadership, swimmers progress from structured lake sessions to carefully curated coastal and open water adventures. These journeys are designed as genuine stepping stones, allowing swimmers to move safely and confidently into more dynamic environments.

Participants consistently describe conquering long-held fears of cold water, completing distances they once thought impossible, and developing the confidence to explore new waters independently. Just as importantly, they speak about the friendships formed along the way. The Wales trips have become a highlight of the year for many — balancing coached swims, coastal exploration, and genuine rest. Swimmers return not just fitter, but transformed.

Pia has intentionally developed these experiences to support progression, ensuring that swimmers are guided, prepared, and supported at every stage of their adventure.

Youth Development That Creates Pathways

As part of our social enterprise ethos, youth development is not an add-on — it is central to what we do. Through our Youth Development Scheme, we have already supported five graduates who are now on university pathways aligned to their chosen careers. These pathways span sport, outdoor education, and related sectors, demonstrating that access to structured opportunity can create tangible progression.

The programme develops leadership, responsibility, water safety awareness, and professional conduct within a real operational environment. For many young people, their first structured experience of responsibility has been lakeside with PTP. That experience has not only built confidence but provided a platform from which they can move forward into further education and employment.

The Adam Project – Culture, Consistency and Standards

Lakeside culture is built through consistency, and The Adam Project reflects that principle in action. Adam’s steady presence on site has strengthened rapport with regular lake users while raising standards across the operational team. His ability to combine approachability with clear safety leadership creates trust within the community.

Alongside building relationships with regular swimmers and paddlers, Adam has invested time in developing himself and the staff team around him. That consistent mentoring and quiet leadership strengthens the whole operation and ensures that standards remain high, even as the team evolves.

Danielle – The Operational Backbone

Exceptional delivery depends on strong operational foundations. Danielle plays a vital role in ensuring that the infrastructure behind the scenes runs smoothly and efficiently. She manages enquiries, processes bookings, issues invoices, maintains communication channels, and supports compliance and administration across the organisation.

While the lake is the visible face of PTP, the systems that support it are carefully managed. Danielle’s organisation and responsiveness allow coaches and site leads to focus fully on delivering high-quality outdoor experiences. Many seamless customer journeys begin with her first email response.

Tom – Expanding Access Across London and Kent

Tom has led the development of PTP’s business-to-business partnerships, widening access to paddlesports and swimming beyond a single site. Through strategic engagement with partners across London and Kent, he has supported the introduction of structured watersport opportunities in new areas, increasing participation and improving accessibility.

This work involves building relationships with landowners and stakeholders, developing robust operating frameworks, and ensuring that safety and governance standards remain consistent across all environments. By expanding geographically while maintaining quality, PTP continues to remove barriers to entry and create more opportunities for people to engage with the outdoors.

Custom Events and Specialist Delivery

With over 50 years of combined outdoor experience within the core team, PTP’s specialist services are grounded in depth of knowledge and practical expertise. Whether delivering corporate development days, technical workshops, or bespoke family events, the approach remains consistent: professional, calm, inclusive, and outcome-focused.

Clients frequently comment on the clarity of instruction, the reassurance provided by structured safety management, and the welcoming atmosphere created by the team. Events are not delivered as generic packages; they are designed around specific objectives and tailored to the needs of the group.

What People Say

Feedback across Google and direct correspondence consistently reflects the culture PTP has built. Swimmers describe the venue as welcoming and professionally managed, highlighting the calm confidence of the team. Many speak about starting their journey nervous or uncertain, only to find themselves completing swims and trips they once believed were out of reach.

Parents and participants comment on the positive influence on young people, noting the visible growth in confidence and responsibility. Others emphasise the balance between professionalism and approachability, describing PTP as an organisation that makes people feel capable rather than intimidated.

Why It Works

PTP’s impact stems from experience, structured safety frameworks, and a genuine love for the outdoors. The team combines operational competence with a commitment to progression, ensuring that every interaction supports growth, confidence, and community connection.

We do not simply run sessions.
