RLSS Rookie Lifeguard Course

A series of Awards aimed at those 8-14 years old, each award has 3 stages to achieve.
The aim of the awards it to take you through the basics of being a lifeguard and what the role entails including fitness, response, recovery and how to get help. The award was initially aimed at the pool environment but as we explore nature more we have adapted the Rookie Lifeguard to make it suitable for outdoors as well. Our instructors will take you through all the session critera as per the RLSS guidance however we have added or adapted some skills to being in the outdoor environment.
Award levels - minimum requirements
Bronze - Swim up to 50m in clothing*
Silver - Swim up to 200m in clothing*
Gold - Swim up to 400m in clothing*
Clothing needs to be suitable for the weather, eg a wetsuit can count when the water is sub 18 degrees, if wearing everyday clothing we recommend light weight clothing, no cotton or jeans.
